Pick-up at your Hua Hin hotel, drop-off at the pier
The driver comes to the hotel or villa address you put in the booking, at the hour you choose. The service runs 24/7 and the price is the same at night, so a 5 am start costs no more than a midday one. Luggage goes in the boot and you stay in the same car until the pier.
Boats to Koh Samet leave from Ban Phe, and the landing points sit a short way apart. Nuanthip Pier, Ban Phe Municipal Pier and Ao Wong Duan Pier are the usual drop-off points. Write the name of your Koh Samet resort in the booking and the driver will head for the pier that fits it.
The road and how long it takes in practice
The car leaves Hua Hin on Highway 4 going north past Khao Takiab and on to Phetchaburi. From there Highway 35 leads toward the Bangkok side, and Highway 36 takes you through the last stretch to the Gulf coast at Ban Phe.
On paper the trip is 370 km and 4 h 40 min. A start around 6 or 7 in the morning runs smoothly through the western part of the route. Truck traffic around Chonburi is heavier from about 10 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon, and weekends or public holidays can add 30 to 45 minutes. If you want a coffee or a toilet break, ask the driver to stop at a service area near Chonburi.
Setting the pick-up time around the boats
Island boats run in daylight. Ferries from Nuanthip Pier go roughly from 7 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon, and the last useful departures are around 5. A pick-up in Hua Hin by 8 am puts you on Koh Samet in the afternoon.
Plan to stand at the pier 30 to 45 minutes before your boat, a little longer on weekends and holidays. Timetables shift with the season, so confirm the boat time with the operator or your resort before you fix the hour of pick-up.

What the price covers
One fixed price per car covers fuel, tolls and parking, so nothing is added on the road. It is a final price, door to door. Cancelling is free.
You pay the driver in cash. Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, transfer by QR code and bank transfer to a Thai account are possible if you prefer them. A surcharge of 400 THB per car applies from 24 December to 5 January, and only then.
Koh Samet boat tickets are a separate purchase
The taxi ends at the pier. Boat tickets are bought from the boat operators there and are not part of the taxi price, so keep some cash for them. Ask your resort what the boat to its beach costs before you set out.
In high season Ao Wong Duan Pier has speedboats to the southern beaches of the island. If your bungalow is on one of those beaches, say so when you book, and the driver will plan the stop accordingly.
