Pick-up in Hua Hin, drop-off at the ferry
The driver comes to the hotel or villa address in your booking at the hour you choose. The service runs 24/7 and the price is the same at night, which suits a pre-dawn start. Luggage rides in the boot, and you stay in one car all the way to the mainland piers near Laem Ngop in Trat. Tell the driver about any large items, such as dive bags, when you book.
Several piers serve Koh Chang: Centre Point Pier at Ao Thammachat, the Koh Chang Ferry car ferry and Natural Park Pier. The driver picks the one that fits your beach and the ferry timetable, so write the name of your resort or area in the booking.
The road to Trat
The car leaves Hua Hin on Highway 4, the Phetkasem Road, heading north. It joins Highway 35 and passes through Samut Sakhon and Samut Prakan on the edge of Bangkok. Then it takes Highway 3, the Eastern Seaboard road, through Chonburi and Rayong into Trat province.
The last 20 km run from Trat town to the Laem Ngop pier on smaller provincial roads. Expect slow stretches around the Bangkok edge and on the busy Chonburi section, mainly on weekday rush hours and holiday weekends. Bring water and a snack for the long middle stretch.
Starting early and catching the ferry
Leave Hua Hin at about 7 or 8 in the morning. You arrive in daylight, the morning is cooler and has less traffic, and there are more ferry departures to choose from. The crossing takes 30 to 45 minutes.
The last ferries to the island run around 6 to 7 in the evening, depending on the season and the operator. A later start works if you say so in the booking. If the last boat is gone, there is lodging near the pier and the first ferry leaves at about 6:30 the next morning.
Which car fits your group
The price is per car, so group size decides the car. Divers or travellers with beach gear and large suitcases should look at the Innova, which gives more room than a sedan.
Child seats are available on request, so mention the age of the child in the booking.

What the price covers, and what it does not
One fixed price per car covers fuel, tolls and parking. Nothing is added on the road, and the amount does not change with traffic. Cancelling is free. You pay the driver in cash, and Visa, Mastercard or PayPal are possible if you prefer. Agree any extra detour with us before the trip.
The ferry is separate. Count about 80 THB per person for the passenger ticket and pay it on the day, so four people pay it four times. A holiday surcharge of 400 THB per car applies from 24 December to 5 January.
A stop on the way, and getting home
The drive normally includes one rest stop at a service station on Highway 3. Koh Chang is the second-largest island in Thailand, rainforest-covered and close to the Cambodian border, and shared songthaews wait at the ferry landing for the ride to the beaches.

Is the ferry ticket included in the taxi price?
No. The ferry ticket is about 80 THB per person and is paid separately. The taxi price covers the car only.
Does the taxi take me onto the island?
The standard trip ends at the mainland pier near Laem Ngop. If you need the car on the island, ask when you book, since it needs a vehicle ferry ticket and extra planning.
What time should we leave Hua Hin?
Around 7 or 8 in the morning. You reach the pier in daylight with plenty of ferry options.
How many people fit in one car?
A Standard Sedan seats 3, an Innova 4, an H1 6 and a Commuter 9. The taxi price stays the same whatever the number of passengers in the car.
Can the driver wait while we stay on the island?
For a stay of several days, two one-way transfers are the better choice. Booking the return when you know your date is simpler than keeping a car waiting for days.
